Software API

Specifications:

Software API insert biometric data and the signature image into TIFF and PDF documents and joins them to the document by means of BSI recommended HASH algorithms and asymmetric encryption, in order to protect them from being tampered with or theft. By means of the Software API and the free Hardware API, you can also create your own application for simple and advanced e-signatures.

The Software API is an OCX component that is integrated into your application and can operate alongside it. For the Software API, licence costs are incurred per workstation.

The signature in the document

In addition to the static signature image, which is visibly inserted into the document by the Software API, encrypted and compressed dynamic biometric data is embedded into the document. This includes vertical, horizontal and pressure components, as well as temporal evolution, including acceleration, that the StepOver Hardware API outputs after encryption (4 dimensional data of the signature). This biometric data can be used in the event of a legal dispute at a later stage or confirmed in real time in an identity check is required. Verification based on a signature reproduced on paper is also possible

The range of hardware and software products for electronic signature commercialised by StepOver GmbH has been validated by independent court-authorised handwriting experts.

Secure signing

An Software API is highly suitable for the setup of a system for simple and advanced e-signatures. 

The Software API combines highly secure checksum and hash functionality, such as SHA512, recommended by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), and 2048-4096 bit RSA asymmetric encryption based on two independent key pairs.

If the document was manipulated, this is immediately detectable with the verification module integrated into the API signature. Therefore, it is not possible to change a document after signing it without this being detected by a verification process. It is also impossible to insert the signature into another document, since the biometric data are embedded within the document and encoded with the document content using an asymmetric encryption algorithm (public key). The second key pair of the procedure allows you to identify the user digitally if desired.
