New intelligent signature templates assist you with the automatic capture of signatures and their proper positioning in your electronic document. This works even for dynamically generated documents, in which the position of the signature fields may vary with each document.

And this is just the beginning... Intelligent signature templates monitor the signing sequence of all mandatory fields and all optional signature fields, passing this information to the customer's software upon demand. Depending on the situation and document type, intelligent signature templates can also carry out all kinds of different macro actions, e.g:

• Sending signed documents via e-mail
• Starting external programs with variable start parameters
• Saving signed documents (e.g. to a database or network)
• Combining different tasks in one macro action (e.g. print document, send e-mails and close eSignatureOffice)

Automation through intelligent file renaming

It is very often necessary that the signed PDF document contains a name that is partially derived from its content, e.g. order number and client name. Intelligent file renaming can automatically search the PDF document for keywords and subsequently use these words or characters for the final file name of the signed PDF document. Afterwards, the document can be automatically saved, submitted or passed on to an external application. Of course, intelligent file renaming can also be combined with an intelligent signature template for a fully automated process, in which the user is taken from one signature field to the following, and only has to sign.

A standard application that may be completely customised according to your requirements

Upon signing in eSignature Suite, the document can be automatically forwarded along the customer's internal workflow or archived as required. Numerous possibilities for integration into existing internal company processes are available. However, in order to integrate the software into an existing process, from the user’s perspective not only the technical, but also the functional and optical adaptability is highly important.

Buttons and functions that are not put at the end-user’s disposal can be blocked and disabled by the administrator, in order to show the user of the signature software only what he should see. Even software design can be changed.

These individual settings can then be exported in a configuration file (.scs) and loaded for any number of clients.

Changes in design and configuration can also be performed at any moment after delivery of the application to employees e.g. by loading a new configuration file via http download. This way, the functions of eSignature Suite can even be modified at every new software call, in order to put different tools and functions at the user’s disposal according to the document details and situation.

In addition to software appearance, an SCS file can also contain the required asymmetric keys, signature templates and macro button configuration.

For the validation of an electronically signed document, there are six key aspects:

• The quality of the acquired signature (the signer’s identification mark).
• The secure transmission of the signature and its secure storage in the document (the signature can never be copied or used in any other way).
• The inseparable combination of the identification mark (the signature) with the content of the document, the way it was at the moment of signing (i.e. later document modifications should render the signature invalid).
• The self-protection (in the legal sense) of the company implementing this system should be guaranteed, i.e. the system of the company and/or its employees should not be able to decipher the biometric data of the signature or extract it from the document to insert it into another. Otherwise, it cannot be proved that the signer really signed this document on the basis of this evidence (analogous to paper).
• The use of revision-safe document formats such as PDF(a) or TIFF in order to secure that the electronic document can be opened and read for many years.
• A technology- and manufacturer-independent verifiability of the identification mark (i.e. the signature). This is necessary on the one hand to be able to present comprehensible and credible evidence in court and on the other hand to have the security that the documents signed electronically today can also be used in the far future.

To fulfil these requirements, you need both secure software and a corresponding secure, high-quality signature pad.

• StepOver TIFF & PDF converter for the creation of TIFF and PDF documents from any Windows application with print function (can be installed separately, free of charge)
• The StepOver pad driver for communication with the signature pads from the StepOver product family
• Optionally, Tablet PCs are supported in the eSignature Suite Tablet PC edition enabling direct on-screen signing
• Optionally, graphics tablets and pen pads by other manufacturers are also supported by the eSignature Suite Tablet PC/Wintab edition

The products with "Standard" ending (e.g. StepOver eSignature Suite Standard) only support signature pads of StepOver GmbH as acquisition devices. "Tablet PC" products also support Tablet PCs, whereas products with the "Wintab/Tablet PC" ending support StepOver pads, Tablet PCs and pen pads of other manufacturers through a Wintab driver of the manufacturing company.
